Line of Events

Small-time crooks Lou-Jean (Goldie Hawn) and Clovis Poplin (William Atherton) lose their baby to the state of Texas and decide to do whatever it takes to get it back. Lou-Jean breaks Clovis out of prison, then the two steal their son from his foster home and take a highway patrolman hostage. When a large network begins chasing them across Texas, the pair become unlikely folk heroes and even begin to bond with a captured cop.
